Fourteen young graduates of engineering and geoscience backgrounds on Thursday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, completed an intensive 12-month Nigerian Content Human Capital Development (NC-HCD) Training Programme of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and TotalEnerges in respect of Provision of Trelleborg Export Hoses and Accessories for Egina Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) Vessel.

Structured into classroom-based instruction and hands-on training in the facilities of Fairtex Integrated Services Limited, Elelenwo, Port Harcourt, the programme covered database systems, data analysis, document control, supply chain, technical safety, and project management. The trainees received international certifications for each of the courses.

In an address at the event, the General Manager, HCD, of the NCDMB, Ms. Alexis Emelle, said the project-based training was part of the implementation strategy of the Board’s HCD Guideline, which focuses on building capacity within the Nigerian oil and gas industry and its linkage sectors, and equally mandates operators, contractors and subcontractors to prioritise manpower development.

She described the training as a “structured and deliberate effort to mold capable, confident, and competent professionals who are ready to take their place in the oil and gas sector,” pointing out that the NCDMB remains firmly committed to technical capability development, a core pillar of its Nigerian Content 10-Year Strategic Road Map.

She expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Content team of TotalEnergies for leadership and attention to the training delivery as well as well-being of the trainees, while also commending resource persons of the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN) for “exceptional professionalism, technical depth, and dedication to building capacity.”

She told the graduating trainees that the knowledge and tools they have acquired are “instruments of value creation meant to be wielded with purposes, diligence, and integrity.”

In closing remarks, a representative of the Management of Fairtex thanked NCDMB for “unwavering commitment to developing local content and strengthening indigenous capabilities within the oil and gas industry.” She noted that the Board’s support and dedication to human capital development have continued to make a meaningful difference in the industry.

She expressed appreciation to TotalEnergies, whom she described as “a valued client,” for sponsorship of the HCD programme, noting that the oil giant has demonstrated “the importance of collaboration in building a strong ang more capable workforce.”

She also commended the trainees for their discipline and hard work in the course of the HCD programme, while advising them to apply the knowledge and practical skills gained “to create value across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.”

TotalEnergies’ deployment of Trelleborg export hoses and accessories for Egina FPSO (a floating purpose-built vessel) is primarily for purposes of ensuring safety and highly efficient and reliable deep-water crude oil transfer operations
