The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) on Friday commended the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) for its remarkable contributions to the energy industry, and charged it to lead in shaping a more sustainable and inclusive oil and gas sector.

Speaking at the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Association in Lagos, the Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by the General Manager, Corporate Communications and Zonal Coordination, Mr. Esueme Dan Kikile Esq, recalled the pivotal role of PETAN, through stakeholder engagements and strident advocacy, in the enactment of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act, 2010.

He said the Association has remained “a beacon of innovation and unwavering commitment to the growth of indigenous participation in the oil and gas sector” for over three decades, and that its tireless efforts “have bolstered the competitiveness of Nigerian businesses and elevated our country’s standing in the global energy industry.”

Engr. Ogbe noted that PETAN, with over one hundred members serving in over twenty industries, with combined annual revenue totalling over five hundred million dollars, has achieved much and that “the road ahead presents new challenges” that require stakeholders to continuously evaluate and adapt.

Drawing attention to the theme of the Anniversary Celebration, “The Role of PETAN in Navigating the Next,” he said there is “an increasing need to assist emerging companies in navigating the complexities of this highly competitive sector.”

According to him, “Seasoned PETAN member companies could mentor newer entrants by sharing industry insights and best practices to accelerate growth” and that “PETAN as an organization can create a PETAN Start-up Fund consisting majorly of contributions from her members.”

The NCDMB boss pledged the unwavering support of the Board for the Association’s mission, stating that both organisations would continue to advance the ideals of local content, drive innovation, and create a more prosperous future for all Nigerians.

A major highlight of the one-day event was the presentation of awards to deserving individuals and corporate organisations who have made significant impact in the development of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. The NCDMB boss was one of the honorees, in recognition of the Board’s commitment to promoting indigenous participation, building local capacity, and supporting the sustainable development of Nigeria’s energy sector.

The event was attended by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo
