The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited (HEOSL) and AOS Orwell, has successfully concluded a 12-month Human Capacity Development Programme that equipped nine (9) young Nigerians with industry relevant technical skills and practical experience for careers in the oil and gas sector.

The closeout ceremony took place at Oak Haven Hotel, Woji Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, marking the successful completion of the intensive training program.

Representing the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Manager, Human Capacity Development, Mrs. Tarilate Biribena, described the programme as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s drive to build a highly skilled indigenous workforce. She noted that the trainees acquired technical knowledge, internationally recognised certifications, and valuable hands-on industry experience that will position them for meaningful careers within the energy sector.

The NCDMB boss explained that the participants received training in entrepreneurship, document control, data analytics, automation and instrumentation, project management, and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), among other critical disciplines. In addition to classroom instruction, the programme provided practical workplace exposure across key operational departments within Heritage Energy and its partner organisations, enabling the graduates to develop the competence, confidence, and professional skills required to contribute effectively to Nigeria’s energy industry.

He reaffirmed that the initiative reflects NCDMB’s unwavering commitment to developing indigenous capacity in line with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act and the Board’s strategic vision of building a globally competitive Nigerian workforce.

Speaking on behalf of Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited, the Nigerian Content Development Advisor, Mr. Adesanya Okebiorun, reiterated the company’s commitment to sustainable Nigerian Content through continuous investment in people. He stated that the programme aligns with the objectives of the NOGICD Act, 2010, and supports NCDMB’s vision of strengthening indigenous capacity through skills development, knowledge transfer, and workforce enhancement.

Other speakers at the event encouraged the graduates to embrace lifelong learning and continuous self development, noting that today’s workplace requires not only academic qualifications but also critical thinking, innovation, effective communication, collaboration, adaptability, and digital competence.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates to the graduates and a group photograph to commemorate the successful completion of the programme.

Representing NCDMB at the event were the Manager, Human Capacity Development, Mrs. Tarilate Biribena, and the Senior Supervisor, Human Capacity Development, Mr. Lotanna Onyekachi Ogbuagu
