Nigeria has made a significant stride towards sustainable energy with the official launch of the NEV T6 Electric Bus and its supporting charging infrastructure, marking a key milestone in the country’s shift to clean, technology-driven transportation.

The event, held in Abuja, brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to witness this breakthrough in green mobility and energy efficiency.

Speaking at the launch, Chief Uche Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, described the initiative as transformative for the nation’s transport sector, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He highlighted that the electric bus and infrastructure directly support key objectives of the Renewed Hope 8-Point Agenda, particularly in economic growth, job creation, energy transformation, and industrialisation.

“The NEV T6 Electric Bus is more than just a vehicle—it represents a bold step towards a cleaner, smarter, and more energy-efficient Nigeria. This initiative highlights the crucial role of technology-driven solutions in shaping our nation’s future,” said Chief Nnaji.

The launch underscores Nigeria’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, enhancing urban mobility, and embracing next-generation energy solutions. The deployment of advanced charging infrastructure further strengthens the country’s ambition to decarbonise its transport sector and build a resilient energy ecosystem.

NEV Motors, the company behind the innovation, was commended for its leadership in sustainable mobility. The Minister reiterated the government’s strong support for pioneering clean energy solutions, stating:

“The Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology is committed to supporting forward-thinking initiatives that align with Nigeria’s development goals.”

With the introduction of the NEV T6 Electric Bus, Nigeria has sent a clear message to the global energy community—it is not only embracing innovation but also taking the lead in sustainable transportation across Africa.

As global demand for clean energy solutions rises, Nigeria’s investment in electric mobility positions it at the forefront of the energy transition. The successful deployment of the NEV T6 and its infrastructure is expected to drive further private sector investment, create jobs, and accelerate Nigeria’s green industrialisation efforts.

This milestone is more than just a launch—it is a declaration of intent. Powered by innovation, science, and technology, Nigeria is on a path toward a greener, more prosperous future
