In the continued efforts by the military in its fight against crude oil theft, the Nigerian Army 6 Division, stationed in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Wednesday discovered five stolen crude oil reservoirs at a busted illegal refinery in Odagwa, Etche Local Government Area in Rivers State

During the operation, the team led by the 29 Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Ishaya Manga, representing the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Jamal Abdusallam, also discovered some crude oil in bulk tied in nylon bags.

Speaking with journalists at the site,  Lieutenant Colonel Ishaya Manga, reiterated the stance of the Nigerian Army against illicit activities plaguing the region.

He re-echoed the Division’s unwavering commitment to eradicating illegal bunkering operations within its jurisdiction.

“In this area so far, we have discovered five reservoirs filled with illegal crude oil and there are other empty ones. And I also want to send a message to those oil bunkers to desist from this. It is against the law, this is a fight against the Federal Government,” Manga said.

This recent operation marks the third successful raid conducted in 2024 within Odagwa community alone. The successful missions reflect the army’s commitment in its fight against oil theft in the country.
