PDP BoT Describes Secretariat Sealing as ‘Reckless Display of Irresponsibility’

The acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, has called the sealing of the party’s office by the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) the height of irresponsibility.

Damagun said this on Monday while addressing the crowd following the adjournment of the crucial meeting of the national caucus of the opposition party.

“As you can see, we have adjourned our meeting for today until tomorrow (Tuesday) by 10am. We will address you properly by the time we conclude our meeting tomorrow,” Damagun said.

“I know you are also aware that our office in Abuja has been sealed. This is the height of irresponsibility from this government.”

The PDP caucus had met at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

The meeting took place in Asokoro following the sealing of the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, by the FCTA due to unpaid ground rents.

Damagum led Monday’s meeting, alongside members of the National Working Committee (NWC). Also in attendance were eight of the party’s ten governors, including those of Bauchi State (host), Plateau, Osun, Oyo, Enugu, Taraba, Zamfara, and Adamawa.

The governors of Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa states were, however, noticeably absent. Other prominent figures present include the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara; former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana; former Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu; former Senate President and chairman of the party’s NEC Reconciliation Committee, Senator Bukola Saraki; and Senator Ben Obi, among others
