The Federal Government has announced the allocation for the first batch of completed houses across the states of the Federation, under the National Housing Programme (NHP).
In a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi, says a total of 8,925 applications were received, out of which 1294 were for outright payment, 2408 for Mortgage, 2184 for Rent to own and 3039 were for install mental payment modes.
Dr Ogunbiyi said that the applicants under the Mortgage, Rent to own and Installment payment modes who should be subscribers to the National Housing Fund (NHF) are presently undergoing profiling”.
The NHF is a Federal Government scheme, which entitles all Nigerians above the age of 21 years in paid employment to a low-interest, government-funded loan.
While contributing 2.5 per cent of their salary to the fund through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.
Ogunbiyi explained that the first batch of the allocation process was concluded after a review of the conditions and procedures under NHP, as conveyed in a circular with Ref. No. DPBH/645/1/643
“The offer of New Provisional Allocation Letters for the first batch of successful applicants under the Outright Payment mode is now ready.
“The successful subscribers would be contacted by the Federal Controllers of Housing and Urban Development in the states as well as the Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) from Thursday for collection.” said the permanent secretary.
He however added that there were no completed houses in Abia, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers states and the FCT, stating that allocation of houses will be done upon completion later in the year
