Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has called for a live broadcast of her Senate probe proceedings, insisting that Nigerians have the right to witness the process transparently.

The lawmaker, who was referred to the Senate’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee following her recent confrontation with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over a seating arrangement, declared her readiness to face the panel but opposed any closed-door handling of the matter.

In a statement on her Facebook page on Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan stated that she had refrained from speaking publicly on the issue and other Senate developments but had now decided to break her silence.

“This petition came to my notice a few hours ago. In as much as I have refrained from publicly speaking on the matter and other occurrences in the Senate under President Akpabio, it’s time to break my silence,” she wrote.

She urged Nigerians to follow the proceedings closely, reiterating her commitment to full transparency.

“Arise News, set a date, and I shall be in your studio in person. Spare no questions,” she added. “And to Nigerians, please be sure to join the probe, which I shall insist must be covered live. The next few days and weeks shall be interesting but will shape the standard and quality of Nigeria’s leadership.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s demand comes amid growing public interest in the internal workings of the Senate, particularly in cases involving high-profile lawmakers. Observers have noted that a live broadcast would allow citizens to assess the fairness and credibility of the probe.

Political analysts say the unfolding events could set a precedent for legislative transparency in Nigeria. Meanwhile, the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee is yet to respond to her request for a public hearing.

The coming days will determine whether the Senate will heed her call or maintain its traditional closed-door approach to internal inquiries.
