Yusuf Muhammad Buhari, son of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter addressed to stakeholders and supporters, Yusuf Buhari expressed readiness to contribute to leadership and development in the constituency, noting that his decision followed extensive consultations.

“With all respect, I am extremely delighted to write and inform you my intention to contest for the seat of House of Representatives at the above mentioned constituency (Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua), under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC),” he stated.

Yusuf Buhari, who holds the traditional title of Talban Daura, explained that his ambition was driven by the desire to offer quality leadership and foster development in the constituency.

“After a widely consultations, I wish to contest for the seat of House of Representatives Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua, as my contribution to ensure a good and qualitative leadership,” he added.

The former President’s son also appealed to constituents for support, promising infrastructural and human capital development if elected.

“Your support will help my ambition a success, to bring infrastructural development as well human support and development to the people of this constituency,” he wrote.

He further expressed optimism while seeking encouragement from stakeholders and community members.

“While expecting your full support and encouragement, I wish you all the very best in all your undertakings,” the letter concluded.

Yusuf Buhari’s declaration signals a significant political development in Katsina State, particularly in Daura, the hometown of his late father, former President Muhammadu Buhari. His entry into elective politics is expected to generate considerable interest within the APC and across the constituency.

Political observers say his candidacy could reshape the contest for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat, given the Buhari family’s political influence in the area.
