President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hosted the Gabonese President, Brice Oligui Nguema, at the State House in Abuja.
The strategic meeting, held behind closed doors, focused on strengthening diplomatic relations and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking to State House correspondents, President Nguema expressed his commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation with Nigeria.
He called for deeper economic ties with Nigeria, reflecting Gabon’s strategic vision to leverage regional partnerships and boost sustainable development through foreign direct investment.
The Gabonese leader urged Nigerian companies to explore investment opportunities in Gabon’s rich oil and mineral sectors, describing the country as an “oil magnate” with abundant natural resources.
He expressed optimism about the current state of affairs in Gabon, emphasising that “things are going very well” in the country.
“Well, things are going very well in Gabon right now, and as I said to His Excellency, President Tinubu, we are for South-South cooperation. And we believe that it will be a good thing for Nigerian companies to come to Gabon and invest in the oil magnate and the minerals field, as I said. Those companies should come to Gabon and invest more — things are going very well.”
This high-level engagement between Nigeria and Gabon signals a mutual interest in enhancing diplomatic cooperation, strengthening economic ties, and promoting stability in Central Africa.
