PDP crisis: INEC updates website, lists Abdulrahman, Anyanwu as national officers

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated its official website, publishing the names of the newly recognized members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Among those listed are Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, alongside other members of the party’s national leadership.

Both Abdulrahman and Anyanwu were elected during the PDP National Convention held late last night in Abuja, a gathering that has since generated controversy due to claims and counter-claims by rival factions within the party.

The development follows disputes surrounding the convention, with different groups contesting the legitimacy of the outcome.

INEC’s update is being interpreted by observers as a significant step that may signal recognition of the list submitted to the electoral body.

The move comes amid ongoing internal tensions within the PDP, with some stakeholders reportedly seeking legal redress to address the leadership crisis that emerged after the convention.

As Nigeria approaches the next general elections, the PDP is expected to continue navigating internal challenges over its leadership structure
