The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has formally announced the commencement of registration and the unveiling of the official website for the National Youth Conference 2025, tagged Youth Confab 2025.

Speaking during a press address in Abuja Nigeria’s capital, Olawande described the event as a historic journey and a generational turning point with the theme: “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future.”

He said the conference would serve as a national movement and participatory platform to harness the voices, creativity, and leadership of Nigerian youth.

He stated that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Youth Confab would be inclusive, non-partisan, and youth-led, aimed at providing young Nigerians across all communities and the diaspora the opportunity to unite, engage, and co-create the future of the country.

“With over 70% of our population under the age of 35, it is clear that Nigeria’s destiny is directly linked to the creativity, energy, and aspirations of her youth,” he said.

The Minister explained that the conference would follow a multi-level participatory process, including virtual engagements with Nigerians in the diaspora, consultations in all 360 federal constituencies, zonal consolidation meetings across the six geopolitical zones, and a national conference in Abuja where key policy recommendations will be presented to government.

Highlighting the thematic focus of the conference, Olawande said “discussions would centre on six core areas: Governance, Participation and Political Leadership; Economic Transformation, Entrepreneurship and Job Creation; Education and Skills for the Future; Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation; Climate Change and Energy Transition; and Social Inclusion and Security”.

He emphasized that “the entire process would be anchored on transparency, inclusivity, respect, and innovation, ensuring every Nigerian youth, regardless of gender, ability, faith, or background has a seat at the table”.

Olawande also announced the launch of the conference’s official portal, https://nationalyouthconfab.gov.ng, where interested youth can register, contribute, and receive real-time updates.

Urging young Nigerians to seize the opportunity, the Minister called on students, creatives, entrepreneurs, artisans, professionals, and members of the diaspora to actively engage in the national development process.

“Nigeria needs you. The future is not something we wait for, it is something we must create and own,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, Chairman of the National Planning Committee for the National Youth Conference 2025 Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya described the launch of the conference portal as a defining moment for youth development in Nigeria.

Speaking at the official unveiling ceremony in Abuja, the Chairman expressed gratitude to stakeholders and emphasized that the Youth Confab is not just another event, but a strategic platform designed to amplify the voices, dreams, and innovative solutions of young Nigerians from across the country.

According to him, the newly launched portal goes beyond serving as a website; it stands as the digital gateway to the success of the conference. The platform is expected to facilitate seamless delegate registration, virtual consultations, and serve as a central hub for conference updates and interactions.

He noted that with this digital innovation, doors have now been opened for nationwide participation, collaboration, and the exchange of bold ideas that will help shape Nigeria’s future.

The Chairman extended deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for initiating the Youth Confab, and commended the Minister of Youth Development for his visionary leadership and commitment to empowering young people.

He also acknowledged the dedication of members of the National Planning Committee, as well as the invaluable support of partners and stakeholders who have made the initiative possible.

The event marks the formal commencement of preparations for the National Youth Conference 2025, with the hope that it will become a milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward inclusive and youth-driven national development.
