Mohamed Salah has etched his name in the history books, becoming Africa’s all-time leading scorer in the UEFA Champions League. The Egyptian forward, who has been a consistent force for Liverpool, netted his 45th Champions League goal, surpassing the previous record held by Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba, who scored 44 goals in Europe’s most prestigious club competition.

Salah’s landmark goal came in style, as he helped Liverpool secure a vital victory in their latest group stage match. His pace, skill, and clinical finishing have made him one of the most feared forwards in world football, and his performances on Europe’s grandest stage have been nothing short of spectacular.

With this achievement, Salah now stands alone at the top, ahead of Drogba and Cameroonian icon Samuel Eto’o, who sits in third place with 30 Champions League goals. Salah’s journey to the top has been marked by key goals in pivotal moments, including in Liverpool’s 2019 Champions League-winning campaign, where he scored in the final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Having joined Liverpool in 2017, Salah quickly established himself as a key figure, leading the team to multiple Champions League knockout stages and consistently delivering when it mattered most. His goalscoring record is a testament to his incredible consistency, work ethic, and talent, and he shows no signs of slowing down.

Now holding the title of Africa’s top scorer in the competition, Salah’s achievement places him in the pantheon of African football legends, alongside Drogba and Eto’o. With more seasons of Champions League football ahead of him, Salah will likely continue to extend his record, adding to an already legendary career
