Liverpool moved back to the top of the English Premier League table by beating Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday evening, October 20.
Mohamed Salah’s penalty and Curtis Jones’ winner made it 10 wins in 11 games for the Reds since Dutch tactician, Arne Slot took charge of the team.
The win takes Liverpool one point ahead of Manchester City and four clear of Arsenal, who they face at the Emirates next weekend.
Liverpool’s only defeat under Slot was to Nottingham Forest before September’s international break.
The Dutchman handed Jones just his second league start of the season and the England international won Liverpool’s penalty and scored the decisive goal.
Tosin Adarabioyo hauled down Diogo Jota after just six minutes and the blues were lucky to not have seen a red card.
Chelsea, fortunate to not have seen a red card, settled nicely into their rhythm and pushed Liverpool back by dominating possession.
Liverpool counter attacked and Chelsea were caught out when Salah fed Jones was chopped down by Levi Colwill to which Salah scored his 10th goal against his former club from the resulting penalty.
Moments later, Cody Gakpo slotted in at the end of another Liverpool counter-attack, but Salah was judged to be offside
