Nigerian fashion designer Kuforiji Oluwaseun has earned global recognition after securing the Guinness World Record for the longest sewing marathon, an extraordinary feat that underscores his exceptional craftsmanship and resilience.
The Ogun State-born designer officially received his Guinness World Records certificate and plaque on Friday in honor of his outstanding achievement.
Kuforiji sewed non-stop for an astounding 106 hours, 55 minutes, and 20 seconds, from January 22 to January 26, 2024, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. Working solely with a needle and thread, he demonstrated remarkable precision, patience, and dedication to his craft.
Within just six hours, he had already completed a full Agbada outfit, setting the pace for an endurance-driven display of skill. By the conclusion of his marathon, he had produced a total of 18 outfits, solidifying his place in history as a trailblazer in the Nigerian fashion industry.
Kuforiji, a graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, is the founder of Koil Creations, a brand that has steadily gained recognition for its innovative approach to African fashion.
His record-breaking feat not only highlights his personal perseverance but also shines a spotlight on Nigeria’s thriving fashion industry, proving that homegrown talent continues to make an indelible mark on the global stage.
