Air Peace has expanded intra-Africa connectivity with the launch of scheduled services on the Lagos-Conakry-Bamako route, opening two new destinations aimed at improving travel, trade and regional integration across West Africa.
The inaugural flight departed Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2, Lagos, at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, marking another step in the carrier’s regional expansion strategy. The new operation links Nigeria with the Republic of Guinea and the Republic of Mali, providing travellers with improved access for business, tourism and cultural exchange.
Intra-Africa connectivity drives regional expansion
The launch reinforces Air Peace’s ambition to connect more African cities through Lagos while creating smoother travel options across the continent and beyond. In addition, passengers travelling from the airline’s domestic network can now connect more easily to regional and international destinations.
An Air Peace delegation led by Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Nowel Ngala, and Director of Flight Operations, Captain Augustine Kamano, received an official welcome in Conakry. Among those present were Guinea’s Minister of Transport, His Excellency Ousmane Gaoul Diallo, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Guinea, Ambassador Umaru Kamfu, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Thiam Oumar Sekou, and members of the Nigerian community.
Guinea’s Minister of Transport described the new route as an important development for both countries.
“The new connection will strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and Guinea while facilitating greater movement of people, trade and economic opportunities between both countries,” Diallo said.
The Director of Guinea’s Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Thiam Oumar Sekou, also welcomed the service. He noted that stronger air links would support aviation growth and deepen regional integration across West Africa.
Nigeria’s Ambassador to Guinea, Ambassador Umaru Kamfu, praised the airline for expanding its African network. He said the new flights would strengthen bilateral relations while providing a more convenient travel option for Nigerians, Guineans and other travellers within the region.
Speaking for Air Peace, Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Nowel Ngala, said the airline remained focused on building a stronger African network.
“The new Conakry and Bamako connections form part of our broader commitment to building a robust intra-Africa network that enables travellers across our domestic destinations to connect seamlessly through Lagos to regional and international destinations, including London and the Caribbean,” Ngala said.
He added that Air Peace would continue bringing African cities closer together by providing passengers with greater intra-Africa connectivity, convenience and access to new opportunities.
Meanwhile, the delegation continued to Bamako, where the inaugural flight landed at Modibo Keita International Airport. Officials of Assistance Aéroportuaire du Mali and representatives of the Nigerian community welcomed the aircraft.
Deputy Director of Assistance Aéroportuaire du Mali, Mr. Abdrahamane Farota, said the new service would strengthen aviation ties between Nigeria and Mali.
“The connection will create greater opportunities for trade, tourism and economic cooperation between both countries,” he said.
Representing the Director General of Mali Airport, Technical Director Mr. Bahide Konandji described the new operation as a positive development for Mali’s aviation sector. He expressed confidence that the service would improve movement between Mali, Nigeria and other destinations across Air Peace’s growing network.
Members of the Nigerian community in Mali also welcomed the route, saying it would make travel easier while strengthening ties between both countries.
With the addition of Conakry and Bamako, Air Peace now serves 13 regional destinations across West Africa. Therefore, the airline continues to strengthen intra-Africa connectivity while expanding Nigeria’s aviation footprint.
