Billionaire industrialist and Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has announced a massive financial incentive package for the Super Eagles following their emphatic victory over Algeria, which secured Nigeria a place in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Super Eagles on Saturday, January 10, 2026, sealed a smooth passage to the final four with a dominant 2–0 win over the Desert Foxes at the Stade de Marrakech.

Second-half goals from talisman Victor Osimhen and striker Akor Adams ensured Nigeria’s flawless run in the tournament continues.

In a congratulatory message shared shortly after the final whistle, Rabiu praised the players for delivering what he described as a “brilliant victory” that has lifted the morale of Nigerians globally.

To further motivate the team, he announced a tiered reward system for the remaining two hurdles of the competition.

“To encourage you, I pledge USD $500,000 to the players upon winning the semi-final, with an additional USD $50,000 for every goal scored,” the BUA chairman stated.

Rabiu further upped the ante for the final, promising an additional USD $1,000,000 should the Super Eagles lift the trophy, alongside a USD $100,000 bonus for each goal scored in the championship match.

He commended the team’s fighting spirit and dedication, noting that their performance has rekindled national pride. “Wishing you continued success as you carry Nigeria forward. Keep making Nigeria proud,” he added.

The Super Eagles are now set for a high-stakes semi-final clash against the host nation, Morocco, on Wednesday, January 14, in Rabat.

The incentive package has drawn widespread praise from sports enthusiasts, who noted that such private-sector support provides critical motivation as the team seeks its first continental title since 2013.
