The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed a total fine of $100,000 on the Algerian Football Federation following disciplinary breaches during their quarter-final clash with Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Super Eagles emerged victorious in the keenly contested encounter, a result that sparked unrest from the Algerian camp after the final whistle.

CAF’s Disciplinary Board found Algeria guilty of several violations, including misconduct by players and officials, as well as crowd-related offences.

According to the breakdown released by CAF, the sanctions include:

$5,000 for players’ misconduct that led to multiple bookings

$25,000 for the behaviour of some players and officials after the match.

$5,000 for the use of flares by supporters

$5,000 for throwing objects from the stands

$10,000 for failure to comply with security regulations

$50,000 for the misconduct of fans and some media personnel

In addition to the financial penalties, CAF also handed down an individual sanction.

Algerian defender Rafik Belghali has been suspended for four matches for his role in the post-match incidents.

Two of the matches will be served during the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

CAF reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on violence, disorderly conduct, and security breaches, stressing that all member associations must ensure discipline on and off the pitch to protect the integrity of African football
