The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with TotalEnergies and Geoplex Drillteq Limited, on Monday launched the Nigeria Content Human Capital Development (NC-HCD) Training Programme for the Provision of Offshore Cased Hole Logging and Associated Services.
The one-year specialised training programme, which kicked off in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is designed to develop indigenous capacity in critical oil and gas service areas and equip Nigerian youths with industry-relevant skills required to enhance local participation and competitiveness within the sector.
The programme is being delivered by Arewa Innovative Solutions and will comprise six months of classroom-based learning and six months of practical job training. Participants will receive monthly stipends throughout the programme and, upon successful completion, will earn internationally recognised certifications.
Speaking at the programme, the General Manager, Human Capacity Development, Ms. Alexis Emelle, described the initiative as more than a conventional training programme.
“This is not just the kick-off of any training; it is the opening of a door that does not remain open forever. Opportunity is not just a gift; it is a test,” she said.
Ms. Emelle urged the trainees to remain committed, disciplined, and fully engaged throughout the duration of the programme, noting that the initiative reflects the Board’s commitment to building a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Speaking on behalf of TotalEnergies, the Acting Manager, Human Capacity development, Dr. Sunny Dickay, highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in developing the next generation of industry professionals.
“Through this partnership, we are nurturing the young generation to ensure that Nigeria remains competitive in the oil and gas industry,” he said, while encouraging participants to embrace the programme with a spirit of partnership, collaboration, and dedication.
Also speaking, the Human Resources Manager of Geoplex Drillteq Limited, Miss Datokini Soye-Bille, expressed appreciation to NCDMB for spearheading the initiative and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting human capital development within the sector.
Training modules under the programme include Casing and Cementing Technology, Wireline Operations, Coiled Tubing Operations, Project Cost Engineering, Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET), Industrial General Safety, and Data Acquisition and Logging Operations.
The kick-off ceremony featured an interactive session between trainees and facilitators, followed by the signing of the code of conduct by participants.
In closing remarks, representatives of Geoplex Drillteq Limited acknowledged the significant role played by NCDMB in supporting the company’s growth and encouraged participants to maximise the opportunity by approaching the training with seriousness and commitment.
The NC-HCD programme underscores NCDMB’s continued commitment to strengthening local capacity, promoting knowledge transfer, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for Nigerians in line with the objectives of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act
