Hilda Baci sets third Guinness World Record with largest serving of rice

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has earned her third Guinness World Records (GWR) title after Guinness officially recognised her for achieving the largest serving of rice, in addition to her previous jollof rice milestone.

The recognition followed a review of Baci’s record attempt with food brand Gino in Lagos, Nigeria. The feat was achieved on September 12, 2025, in Victoria Island, where Baci and Gino prepared a massive 8,780 kilograms of rice. While the team initially set out to break the record for the largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice, Guinness later confirmed that the same attempt also qualified as the largest serving of rice overall.

Baci announced the development on January 20, 2026, by sharing a screenshot of an email she received from Guinness World Records. The message, signed by Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering, Records Creative Team, read:

“Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing (again)!

Hello Hilda,

I hope you’re well!

It has come to our attention when comparing record guidelines of the two record titles that when you and your team attempted and achieved “Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice” you also achieved the record title of

“Largest serving of rice”- so you have been proactively awarded this record title too.

Many congratulations from me on behalf of Guinness World Records, you are Officially Amazing (again)!

All the best,

Drew

Andrew Fanning

Head of Client Partnering – Records Creative Team”

According to Guinness World Records, the achievement details state:

“The largest serving of rice is 8,780 kg (19356 lb, 9 oz) and was achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino (all Nigeria), in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, on 12 September 2025.”

Reacting to the announcement, Baci described the moment as shocking and emotional, saying she only discovered the additional record months after the initial announcement. In her caption, she wrote:

“Woke up a three time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.

What a way to step into 2026.

This morning, I was just doing my usual routine, casually scrolling through my emails, when I saw the message come in. I was shocked and happy at the same time, completely caught off guard. Five months after the initial record announcement, I was just finding out that there was more.”

She explained that what she believed was a single record turned into two on the same day lWhen I and @ginonaija broke the Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, I thought that was it. What I didn’t know, until now, is that on that same day, we had also broken the record for the largest serving of rice overall. So what I thought was one record… turned out to be two. And now, officially, that makes three Guinness World Records in total.”

Baci also credited her team and business partner for the success, adding: “The very first person I called was @oreoluwa_atinmo, because this journey, this vision, and this record would not have been possible without her. We did this together. From idea to execution, side by side, fully aligned.”

Reflecting on the journey, she wrote “Honestly, God is faithful. The kind of faithful that still surprises you. This feels like such a beautiful reminder that even when you think you’ve seen the full picture, God can still say, “There’s more.” What a blessing, and what a way to enter this new year.”

Baci first entered the Guinness World Records in May 2023 after completing the longest cooking marathon by an individual. Her second title came in September 2025 for the largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice, before the latest confirmation elevated her to a three time record holder
