The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has commended TotalEnergies and PIDWAL for their commitment to Nigerian Content development and for the successful completion of the Human Capacity Development (HCD) training under the “Provision of Drillship for the Egina Project.” The closeout ceremony was held on Tuesday at Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The one-year programme, implemented under NCDMB’s HCD framework, provided intensive training in Sea-Time operations, Certificate of Competency (COC) preparation, and Hydraulic Mechanics/Technician development. It aimed to develop skilled Nigerians capable of making meaningful contributions to the nation’s maritime and oil and gas industries.

Representing the Executive Secretary NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Manager, Human Capacity Development, Tarilate Teide-Bribena, described the completion of the training as a major milestone in human capacity building and a testament to effective industry collaboration. She noted that the programme was executed successfully without a single incident or disciplinary report, a reflection of the professionalism of the trainees and the commitment of all partners involved.

She congratulated the trainees on their resilience and focus, urging them to view the training as a launchpad for greater professional growth. “You have shown discipline and determination throughout this programme. With the skills you have gained, you are no longer just trainees; you are assets to Nigeria’s maritime and oil and gas workforce,” she said.

Mrs. Teide-Bribena also praised TotalEnergies for its strict adherence to Nigerian Content requirements and for providing the resources that ensured the smooth execution of the training. She equally commended PIDWAL for its consistent supervision, technical input, and support that sustained the programme’s high standards.

She reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to strengthening local capacity through structured HCD programmes that align with its core mandate. She emphasised that the training outcomes will not only enhance the employability of participants but also contribute to reducing skill gaps in Nigeria’s marine and oil and gas operations.

Speaking on behalf of TotalEnergies, the Human Capacity Development Officer, Daniel Dent commended the trainers, contractors, and NCDMB for their close cooperation and monitoring throughout the training cycle. He described the journey as challenging but rewarding, noting that TotalEnergies remains a law-abiding and compliant partner fully committed to Nigerian Content development.

In his remarks, General Manager Human Resources, PIDWAL, Dr. Timothy Oyeniyi, appreciated the guidance of the Board and the collaboration of TotalEnergies in delivering a successful programme. He noted that the initiative demonstrated the value of synergy in achieving long-term national capacity goals.
