PDP Postpones NEC Meeting Amid Internal Crisis, Looming Defection Of Governors

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, due to “recent developments” within the party.

In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) announced the postponement, citing Section 29 (2)(b) of the party’s constitution.

“All NEC members should please note the postponement and be guided accordingly,” the statement read.

The decision comes amidst a wave of defections from the party, including the expected defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday.

At least two other governors are reportedly on the verge of joining Mbah in defecting from the PDP.

The party’s internal crisis deepened on Monday with the resignation of Sadiq Abdullahi, a member of the House of Representatives representing Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State.

Abdullahi cited the party’s “deepening internal conflicts” and “loss of direction” as the primary reasons for his departure.

The PDP is also grappling with controversy surrounding its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who is believed to be aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The party’s NEC meeting would now hold on a date to be communicated to members in due course.

The postponement has sparked concerns about the party’s internal stability and future prospects
