Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, hosted Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at his Port Harcourt residence on Sunday, in what appeared to be another step towards consolidating the ongoing reconciliation between the two political leaders.
The meeting marked the first public engagement between Wike and Fubara since the governor announced he would not seek re-election in the 2027 Rivers State governorship election.
Wike was accompanied by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Kingsley Chinda, and the Chairman of the Rainbow Coalition Reconciliation Committee, Magnus Abe.
Fubara attended the meeting alongside former APC Deputy National Chairman, Sam Jaja.

Wike recently declared that his political differences with the governor had been resolved, saying Fubara had agreed to reunite with the political family that backed his emergence as governor in the 2023 election.
The relationship between the two leaders broke down shortly after Fubara assumed office, triggering a prolonged political crisis that led to impeachment moves by lawmakers loyal to Wike and heightened political instability in the state.
The crisis later culminated in President Bola Tinubu declaring a six-month state of emergency in Rivers State.
Following the peace agreement reached by both camps, Fubara joined the APC and aligned with the Wike-backed Rainbow Coalition.
A reconciliation committee headed by Magnus Abe was subsequently inaugurated to engage the governor and his supporters and facilitate the reintegration process.
Fubara has also declared his support for the Rainbow Coalition and endorsed APC governorship candidate Kingsley Chinda as his preferred successor in the 2027 governorship election
