In reference to the court judgement withholding allocations to Rivers State, President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC)Joe Ajaero has told the Nigerian judiciary not to embark on what he described as ‘a journey of self destruction’ as the union will not fold its hands and watch Rivers workers suffer unjustly.
Joe Ajero who said this during the commissioning of compressed natural gas (CNG) buses for workers in Rivers State also warned that the union will not accept a situation where the price of CNG will be like that of petrol
The compressed natural gas CNG buses are part of the intervention of the Tinubu administration directed at providing succour to Nigerian workers occasioned following the fuel subsidy removal the Federal Government.
At the unveiling in Port Harcourt of ten CNG buses, for the South South region, Secretary to the Rivers State government, Tammy Danagogo and the NLC President commended the initiative.
Ajaero, who frowned at the recent federal high court judgement in Abuja ordering the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN to withhold all monthly financial allocations to the Rivers State government said the NLC will not stand aloof and watch their members suffer.
The labour leader also commended Governor Sim Fubara for approving an eighty five thousand naira minimum wage for the state workers
