The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has started the search for a new head coach for the Super Eagles, about two weeks after Jose Peseiro left the post.
Peseiro, who led Nigeria to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in February, left the role after 22 months in charge of the Super Eagles.
Since his departure following the running down of his contract, there have been speculations about an interim coach being appointed for the team. But the football body on Friday said it has begun the search for Peseiro’s successor, calling for applications to fill the role.
“Attention passionate and proven football coaches! The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is looking for a visionary leader to take the helm of our Senior Men’s National Team, the mighty Super Eagles!” the NFF wrote on its website.
“This is your chance to lead a team steeped in history and guide them towards even greater glory on the international stage. Are you ready to answer the call?
It listed the criteria to coach the three-time African champions to include having the right qualifications, a winning mentality, elite experience, and a focus on Africa.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make history with Nigerian football. If you’re a coach who thrives on pressure and dreams of etching your name in footballing lore, we want to hear from you!” the post read.
According to the football body, interested and qualified applicants are to send their resumes to jobs@thenff.com before March 12.
Apart from the Super Eagles, the NFF is also looking for a head coach for the U-17 male team better known as the Golden Eaglets.
“Being the Head Coach of the Golden Eaglets is more than just a job; it’s a chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of young footballers and contribute to the legacy of Nigerian football,” the NFF said. “Ready to take the next step?”
