The Government of Nigeria is set to launch an online platform aimed at connecting skilled workers and artisans with potential clients, according to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa

The announcement was made in a statement signed by Salisu Haiba, Director of Press and Public Relations, in Abuja on Wednesday.

Dangiwa revealed the initiative during a courtesy visit from Adamson Ayinde, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industrial Training and Development, and his team.

The platform, tentatively named “Uber for Artisans,” will serve as a digital marketplace, enabling trained and certified artisans to showcase their skills and connect with customers.

The minister emphasised that this innovation would enhance artisans’ earning potential while ensuring quality and transparency in service delivery.

The initiative aligns with the ministry’s efforts to address Nigeria’s housing deficit through the Renewed Hope Housing Programme.

Dangiwa highlighted plans to construct seven cities across the country’s geo-political zones and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside 30 Renewed Hope Estates. Currently, construction is underway at 14 sites, targeting the delivery of 10,112 housing units in the coming months.

Adamson Ayinde commended the minister’s dedication to the housing programme and identified the shortage of skilled artisans as a critical challenge in the construction sector.

He noted ongoing collaborations with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and the Federal Public Assets Maintenance (FPAM) department to train and certify artisans, aiming to strengthen the local workforce and enhance global competitiveness
