The Federal Government has commenced the construction of 250-unit Renewed Hope housing estates in 12 states across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa disclosed this on Friday during an inspection tour of the Renewed Hope City and Estate under construction in Lambu, Kano State.
He explained that preparations are underway to replicate the project in the remaining 24 states as part of efforts to ensure affordable housing is accessible to all Nigerians.
In addition, the government is developing seven Renewed Hope Cities—one in each geopolitical zone and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). According to Dangiwa, the cities in Kano, Lagos, and the FCT are already at advanced stages, while groundwork for those in the Northeast, North Central, South-South, and Southeastis ongoing.
Speaking on the progress recorded at the Kano site, Dangiwa commended the contractors for their efforts despite delays in payments. He assured them that outstanding payments would be addressed soon.
The minister also visited the site of the 2,000-unit Renewed Hope City project in Kano, which is being executed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. He urged the developers to meet the project’s delivery timeline of August 2025.
“Housing provision is a key priority of this administration. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to bridging the housing gap in Nigeria by ensuring that homes are available and affordable for all categories of citizens,” Dangiwa stated.
Responding to concerns raised by contractors over delayed payments, the minister reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving the issues promptly. “I urge you not to despair, as all your payments will be made as soon as practicable,” he said.
Dangiwa was accompanied on the inspection by the Minister of State for Housing, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Yusuf Ata, and senior officials from the ministry
