The Federal Government has assured parents and authorities of St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, in the Agwarra Local Government Area of Niger State that the abducted children “are doing fine and will be back soon.”
National Security Adviser (NSA) to the President, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, gave the assurance during a visit to the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese and proprietor of the school, Most Rev Bulus Yohanna, as well as the parents of the victims at St. Michael’s Catholic Cathedral, Kontagora.
Ribadu said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had directed him to visit the community and deliver a message of hope, noting that security agencies were intensifying efforts to ensure the safe return of the children.
He described the situation as a difficult moment for the country, stressing that the government takes full responsibility for the safety of citizens.
“Mr President is in pain, he is in sorrow just like all of us. He suspended his planned trip, saying, “Enough is enough and we will not relent,” Ribadu told the gathering.
Bishop Yohanna expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the NSA for the visit and for restoring hope before submitting a formal report to the delegation.A closed-door meeting followed, lasting about 30 minutes.
Ribadu was accompanied by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Bernard Doro; Director General of the DSS, Oluwatosin Ajayi; and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Northern Nigeria, Rev Joseph Hayab
