The Federal Government has inaugurated principal officers for newly established federal tertiary institutions and the leadership of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s higher education system.

The Honourable Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, performed the inauguration at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja. The appointments include leadership for the Federal University of Science and Technology Epe in Epe and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic Abuja.

Dr. Alausa said the development reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding access to quality tertiary education, strengthening teacher education, and positioning Nigerian institutions as centres of innovation and research.

He explained that the institutions were strategically established to address national and global challenges including food security, climate change, renewable energy, and technological innovation.

The Minister also charged the leadership of the NCCE to strengthen governance across colleges of education and promote high academic standards within Nigeria’s teacher education system.

The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutional leadership, improving governance frameworks, and advancing policies that enhance the quality and global competitiveness of Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
