Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the south-south have endorsed President Bola Tinubu and three governors of the zone for the 2027 elections.

The stakeholders announced the resolution after a meeting in Benin, the Edo state capital.

The meeting was attended by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Adams Oshiomhole, Edo north senator; Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation; Ali Dalori, APC acting national chairman;  Victor Giadom, APC national vice-chairman, and governors of the geopolitical zone.

In a communique signed by Keyamo, the APC south-south stakeholders passed a vote of confidence in Tinubu and four governors.

The governors are Bassey Otu, governor of Cross River; Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo; Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta.

The stakeholders urged the two remaining south-south governors — Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers and Douye Diri of Bayelsa — who are not APC members, to join the ruling party.

The stakeholders commended Tinubu for signing into law the South-South Development Commission Act and executing infrastructural projects in the zone.

“We welcome the governors, stakeholders and supporters of Delta and Akwa Ibom States for their patriotic and courageous decisions of embracing the Renewed Hope Agenda and joining the All Progressives Congress,” the communique reads.

“We call on the remaining two non-APC Governors of the region, namely Governors of Bayelsa and Rivers States and their supporters to also join the progressive family in the APC.

“We hereby unanimously ADOPT Mr. President, HE, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as our SOLE CANDIDATE FOR THE 2027 Presidential Election and fervently appeal to the electorate in the South South Region and Nigeria to support him.

“We hereby unanimously ADOPT our APC Governors from the South-South Region as our SOLE GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATES in their respective states in the 2027 gubernatorial elections and appeal to the electorate to vote massively for them in recognition of their outstanding performance and commitment to good governance.”

Out of the four south-south governors mentioned in the communique, only Okpebholo will not be participating in the 2027 governorship elections
