In what seems to be a decisive step to ’unseat’ the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, Coalition members officially adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their official political platform for the 2027 elections on Monday, July 1.

The coalition finalized plans to announce the party today, July 2, at a ceremony in Abuja. The party’s members and interim leaders will be made public.

Former Senate President David Mark was named the coalition’s national chairman upon the adoption of ADC. Former Osun State Governor and Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola was named national secretary, and former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi was named the party’s spokesperson.

A few well-known PDP leaders who attended the coalition meeting urged other party members to join the alliance in advance of the 2027 election.

The PDP leaders who attended the meeting, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Jigawa State Sule Lamido, former Foreign Affairs Minister Tom Ikimi, former Nigerian Ambassador to China Aminu Wali, and former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus, urged a reconsideration of the current political climate.

They argued that Nigeria and Nigerians had been let down by both the ruling APC and the opposition PDP.

Following a lengthy meeting that ended just after midnight, the coalition made significant progress toward its goal of overthrowing the ruling APC and playing a significant role in the general election of 2027
