In a groundbreaking move to unlock Nigeria’s industrial potential, the Federal Government has officially launched the Nigeria Raw Materials Information Management System (NRMIMS).

The platform, unveiled by the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, is set to revolutionize the country’s industrial landscape by enhancing transparency, driving economic transformation, and fostering sustainable development.

Speaking at the launch event in Abuja, held at the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Nnaji underscored Nigeria’s vast natural resource wealth but highlighted the barriers posed by data gaps and inadequate integration, which have long hindered the optimal utilization of these resources.

“Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural resources, yet the absence of accurate, accessible data on raw material reserves, quality, and location has led to inefficiencies, heavy reliance on imports, and reduced investor confidence,” Nnaji stated.

The NRMIMS initiative marks a significant milestone in the nation’s path to industrial growth and economic diversification. It aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, offering a powerful tool for fostering job creation, stimulating local production, and boosting Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global market.

Nnaji emphasized that the platform would act as a catalyst for a data-driven economy, where innovation and local resources fuel industrialization and drive long-term economic prosperity. He also urged government agencies, researchers, the private sector, and development partners to actively engage with and contribute data to the platform, ensuring its full potential is realized.

On his part, Director-General of the RMRDC, Nnanyelugo Ike-Munonso, echoed the sentiment, stressing that the NRMIMS portal is a game-changer for investors, manufacturers, researchers, and policymakers.

He pointed out that the platform offers advanced tools designed to support research, innovation, and the sustainable use of raw materials, paving the way for industrial growth.

With the launch of NRMIMS, Nigeria is boldly stepping into a future where data, innovation, and raw materials converge to power the nation’s economic success.

This marks the beginning of a new era for Nigeria, one where local resources and industrialization drive the country toward sustainable growth and global competitiveness
