Police foil 20-man gang attack on Dangote refinery in Lagos, kill one
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the attempted attack on Dangote Refinery within the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LTFZ) Lagos.
The command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, issued a statement on the incident on Wednesday.
The spokesman disclosed that about 20 armed hoodlums gained access to the refinery through the lagoon.
Hundeyin said they were repelled while attempting to cart away installed armored cables in the facility.
“The hoodlums on sighting security operatives fled the scene. One was hit in the ensuing gunfire and died on the way to the hospital”, the PRO noted.
“Investigation has commenced in order to arrest the fleeing attackers,” he added.
Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi has ordered that security at the refinery be fortified immediately.
