Lagos Rewards 10 Civil Servants With Brand New Cars, Return Tickets To Dubai

Lagos State government has presented brand new cars and a return ticket to Dubai to 10 civil servants in the state employment for their outstanding service.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated this at the Special Luncheon with the Year 2022 Outstanding Public Servants in the state in commemoration of this year’s Lagos State Public Service Week Celebration at Victoria Island, Lagos.

The governor, while congratulating the 190 awardees in the senior and junior categories for distinguishing themselves, said the state government would continue to give priority to the need of civil servants in the state, as well as improve its capacity to meet the expectations of Lagosians.

“Today, we celebrate the grand finale of our annual Public Service Week, which brings to the fore the critical role played by the Public Service as the engine room of government, and principal facilitators in the delivery of good governance. “

This year’s theme: “Building back better from COVID-19: Enhancing Innovative Partnerships to meet the Sustainable Development Goals”, is very apt, reflecting the fact that we have
spent the last two and half years under the shadow of a pandemic,
but even more importantly, pointing hopefully at a stronger and more resilient future”, he said.

He also restated his administration’s commitment to ensuring incentives were provided to motivate outstanding performances in the civil service as the state is geared to unveil its 30-year Developmental plan while urging the awardees to continue to work hard.

“Even as we have achieved a lot of progress in building a Lagos State Public Service that is 21st -Century Compliant, we have no reason to rest on our oars.

We still have a lot of work ahead of us, especially if we are benchmarking our output with global standards, as exemplified in the most successful cities around the world.

“On our own part, as the government entrusted with oversight and leadership of the Public Service, we will continue to give priority attention to all your needs, especially those that will improve your job satisfaction, and your ability and capacity to meet the
expectations of Lagosians.

“I’m sure that you can all testify to the many investments we have made and are making, in training, provision of working tools, provision of a conducive working environment, and incentives aimed at motivating excellent performance”, he said.

He also commended the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, for his visionary and progressive leadership that has elevated the Lagos State Public Service beyond expectation

“I wish to commend the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, for his visionary and progressive leadership, which has elevated the Lagos State Public Service beyond expectation.
Muri-Okunola has been a strong advocate of positive change and recognition for the Lagos State Public Service, and a valued partner in our quest for a Greater Lagos”, Sanwo-Olu said.

Also earlier in his welcome address, the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri- Okunola, said the Luncheon was held to recognise and honour the best among civil servants as part of this year’s celebration of Lagos State Public Service Week, thanking the Governor for prioritising the welfare of workers in the state.

He urged the 190 recipients of the best officers award drawn from the state’s Civil Service not to rest on their oars but to continue to exhibit a high sense of responsibility, diligence, commitment to duty and unalloyed loyalty.

“In congratulating today’s awardees, I urge you not to rest on your oars but continue to exhibit the high sense of responsibility, diligence, commitment to duty and unalloyed loyalty which are the qualities and values for which you have been recognized today”, Muri-Okunola said.

The awardees also promised to continue to work towards achieving the goals of the THEMES agenda of the present administration.
