‘It’s God’s Will:’ Wike Calls For Calm After PDP Presidential Primary Loss

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has called on his supporters to remain calm following the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary, describing his loss in the poll as the will of God.

The governor said this on Monday when he returned to Port Harcourt, the state capital on Monday after losing out to Atiku Abubakar in the party’s presidential poll.

“It is God’s will, let us not bother ourselves so much,” Wike said, accusing governors of the southern region of betrayal.

“Shame to those who will sell out their own,” he said, maintaining that “I have never seen a thing like that”.

The governor, who accused the southerners of not working together for the interest of the region, claimed that it was the reason behind the underdevelopment in the area.

“No wonder we cannot move on with development. Look at, a region ganged up. Then, your own region cannot gang up,” the former minister of state for education, said.

“You became a tool to be used against the interest of your people and you think you have won. You have failed.”
