Adamawa Governor, Fintiri Gets PDP Governorship Ticket For Re-election

The Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has been nominated as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Fintiri emerged as the winner on Wednesday after polling 663 out of 668 votes as declared by the returning officer, Gibson Katabs.
Katabs said, “Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is hereby returned as duly elected.”
It was gathered that Fintiri became a lone candidate after the party’s governorship screening committee disqualified one Ambassador Jameel Abubakar Waziri, who also contested and lost in 2019.
SaharaReporters learnt that Waziri has challenged his disqualification in court. However, he did not answer calls made to his mobile phone by our correspondent for confirmation.
While accepting his nomination, Governor Fintiri reeled out the successes of his administration and urged the electorate to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) and reelect the PDP all the way.
The governor, who announced his re-election bid in April, had said he will continue the developmental efforts recorded by his administration.
“We have done so much and there is more to be done to better the lots of our people and our dear state. We have built a trusting relationship with the electorates, majority of whom are the masses where our support is derived because our party needs to continue on the path of victory,” he had said.
“After a very wide consultation within our great party and outside it, within the state and outside it, with my family, friends, associates and leaders, I wish to formally inform you that I have accepted to offer myself once again to seek for the endorsement of our great party, the PDP, to carry its flag in the 2023 governorship election.
“I believe you can trust me again as you have done before. There is indeed nothing about me that either you or the entire citizens of Adamawa state do not know. And there is nothing on the shelf of your developmental needs that I do not know.”
Former Vice President and PDP presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar attended the event alongside other chieftains of the party in the state.
